Derrick Mugisa, aka Musota, is now in custody

The Uganda Police Force has made significant progress in apprehending members of the new Flying Kick Gang, a group that has recently terrorized residents of Kampala and its metropolitan areas.

On Monday, May 27, 2024, Police Spokesperson Fred Enanga announced the arrest of eight suspects believed to be part of the notorious gang responsible for a series of attacks along Ben Kiwanuka Street, Muyenga, Wandegeya, Kasanga, and other areas in Kampala.

“In our joint operation with criminal intelligence departments, the flying squad, and other sister agencies, we arrested some members of this notorious group. Among them are Rukenge Ahraft, Mudeda Muhamed, Kusasira Amos, Balugere Edrisa, and others,” Enanga revealed.

Enanga further explained that preliminary findings indicate the suspects are unemployed individuals who draw inspiration from martial arts movies to attack innocent citizens and rob them of money and other belongings.

“These are unemployed youths inspired by martial arts movies, attacking innocent citizens to rob money and other belongings,” he said.

Despite the successful arrests, Enanga expressed concern over the tendency of ex-convicts to regroup and re-engage in criminal activities upon their release. He called on the public to be proactive in protecting one another.

“You don’t just look on as a fellow member of the public is being attacked; we need to protect each other,” Enanga stated emotionally.

The suspects are expected to face multiple charges, including robbery and possession of stolen property. The police continue to urge public cooperation to combat such criminal activities effectively.
